Dear Amy:
I´m searching for an institution to do my social service, it was really difficult to find a place with an attractive program, finally I did.
When I have my first interview there, the chairman told me it would be a good experience because I will have the chance to develop many skills in group and individual therapy with children and adults.
Yesterday was my first day and not only was it boring, also was it a waste of time, I spent four hours copying chapters of a book for an online course this institution is going to give.
Today, nothing changed and I wonder if it´s what I´m going to do for the next six months, so I asked a girl what she had been doing there, she told me: nothing but printing copies.
Maybe the best is to quit and start in another place, what would you do?
Love, worried student.

The $ports business
Many people try, but just few of them are able to participate in the major leagues. Why do they want it? Because it is one of the most profitable professions in many countries.
Sports have thousands of fans all over the world and are those fans who give sportsmen and sportswomwen their money and fame.
But in a country with no budget for education it´s insulting to see how much our athletes earn, but what for?, that´s even more insulting, they don´t even have the same level as their counterparts in other countries, and those who actually do are paid less.
For some students in the U.S. being an athlete is the key for going to college, most of them without any academical achievement.
Here in Mexico, soccer is an indicator of how things are, because in the soccer team of the main public University, UNAM, are players who don´t study there! And they are paid with part of the University´s budget, that could be spent in research; but the worst it´s that UNAM is not even selling its own tickets of its own stadium, Ticketmaster, as usual, is in charge of that.
Sports as business could work in Europe, they have a better economy, but in Latin America it´s absurd and in Mexico it´s more. Loocking for more information on internet, I found out that in the top ten of best paid teams, six are Mexican teams, it could be because we (as population) can easily become fanatics, and take as role models people who are just good (or in some cases just average) athletes, a clear example is Maradona in Argentina who after being one of the best athletes became a cheater and now he is god.
In the end, going to a stadium, buying a T-shirt or spending our money in a most productive way is a personal choice.
Bread and sports to the people!
Score=18

My profile
My name is Monserrat, I´m 25 years old and I study Clinical Psychology at UNAM.
I have been living in Mexico City my whole life, but I hope not for long because I would like to travel a lot and maybe move to another place.
Besides that I´m in a writing class at CELE, because I like to learn how to write better, also it´s a good chance of meeting people.
In my free time I like to listen music (especially rock), buy records, read, go to museums and watch T.V.

Letter to a Canadian
Hello:
I hope you are having a good time, I´m fine, a little busy, you know what school is like, but I will survive.
Well, while we are waiting to meet each other, I can tell you some things about me: I´m a 25 year old Psychology student, big fan of music, especially rock, there are some Canadian bands I really like, such as Broken Social Scene and Stars.
I have allways wanted to go to Canada, because of its wonderful places like Toronto; James Gardens looks like a dream!.
When you come to Mexico City you will find we are really friendly people. I suggest you visit Coyoacan, and go to Frida Kahlo´s Museum “Casa Azul” (Blue House), because it´s a lovely house which was built in the early 20th century, the painter Frida Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera used to live there and their objects remain as if they were still living in the house.
After that, you should take a walk and have an ice cream or a delicious hot chocolate.
The day you come to Universidad Naconal Autónoma de México (my University), you must take a look at the Biblioteca Central (Central Library) its images were made with natural stone mosaics between 1949 and 1951, by Juan O´Gorman, probably you won´t have enough time to look all of them, it´s amazing!
Those are just a few sugestions, because maybe you will run out of time really soon.
I can´t wait to meet you, hopefully we will have something in common, but if we don´t, who cares? diferences are great and add fun to life.
See you soon.
Love, Monserrat Valdés.

My expectations
I´m a Psychology student and this is my last semester at school, so I´m about to start my thesis, that´s the main reason why I chose this class.
As humans, we have many things on our minds, sometimes we are able to communicate them, but when we don´t have the chance to do that, we can write about them.
Another reason is that I really enjoy music, especially rock and I wish to say my opinion to other people about a single, an album or a video of a band and write a review about it.
Also I know sometimes my writing is not that good and I want to be better because even though I think I´m good at talking and reading I have a really bad time at writing and practice will be my only chance to do it right. The blog is a good way to practice because we also get the chance to have other people watch our work and in some way our ideas, I´m really excited about it.
